Projects

We are working to reduce our client wait times for our fencing help. Thanks to a generous grant from Dogs Trust, we are striving to complete at least 200 fence projects this year to provide “secure freedom” to at least 400 needy dogs. We are pretty much on-track to meet that goal, but we still need to step things up!A major cause for the time delay is scoring enough spay/neuter appointments to ensure all the dogs in each home are fixed before each fence project. Most of the dogs waiting for a fence project are over 50 lbs, and big dog appointments are in big demand.

So we reached out to IndyHumane CEO David Horth to see if Indyhumane could help with a big number of big dog surgeries in a small amount of time. And Indyhumane Medical Director, Dr Liz Rose, graciously agreed to make this happen.

So yesterday, three FIDO transport teams, headed out at 7 am and delivered 18 dogs to Indyhumane by 8:30 am. Indyhumane’s three veterinarians worked their medical magic and had all the dogs spay/neutered, vaccinated, and flea-treated (in addition to a few ear and skin treatments) by 4:00 pm. Our FIDO transport teams had all the pooches back home safe and sound by 6:30 pm. Today, we are doing it all again to bring 15 more big dogs to our friends at the Indyhumane shelter clinic for their expert veterinary care on the same large scale as yesterday.

We are so appreciative of our partnerships with Dogs Trust USA and with Indyhumane to help us more quickly provide spay/neuter, vaccinations, and secure fenced enclosures to a whole lot of needy dogs in our community.
