Volunteer

FIDO volunteers work together in a variety of ways to directly help pets and their people in our community. Roles range from assisting with spay/neuter transport to prepping dog and cat food for our pet food pantry, to helping fundraise. See the list below for available volunteer opportunities. 

If you are interested in volunteering, please complete the New Volunteer Registration Form. We ask for a commitment of at least 3 hours a month in order to be an active volunteer.

Group Volunteer Opportunities

FIDO offers opportunities for groups to volunteer together. Whether you are a group of friends, a charity or community organization, or a group of coworkers, FIDO would love to host your volunteer day. Please reach out to our Volunteer Coordinator to schedule your group.

Volunteer Opportunities

Outreach

Outreach volunteers provide direct assistance to FIDO clients and their dogs in the form of dog walking. Volunteers also assist with dog playtime and outings to provide exercise and mental stimulation. Dogs will be pre-screened for volunteer safety and experience level. Volunteers work in pairs.

Pet Food Pantry

Our Pet Food Pantry and Open Hours allow clients to come to FIDO for pet food and supplies for their dogs and cats. Volunteers assist our staff during these events.

Pet Food Prep

Sort, package, and label pet food for pantry distribution.

Monthly Pet Food Pantry

Assist with pet food distribution, client check-in, and traffic management. This volunteer opportunity is great for small groups. (First Saturday of every month, 3.5 hour shift)

Warehouse Open Hours and New Client Registration

Assist Open Hours Leader with gathering various pet supplies for clients. Assist with text message check-in process. Assist with traffic management. (Sundays or Wednesdays, 3.5 hour shft; Thursdays, 5.5 hour shift)

Spay/Neuter

Our spay/neuter assistance program volunteers assist with transporting dogs and cats to and from spay/neuter clinics for surgeries. Animals are transported in secure transport carriers for volunteer safety.

Volunteers ride along with the transport leader and assist with navigation to pet homes and with lifting animals in their carriers in to and out of the transport van. Some heavy lifting is required. (Friday, Sunday or Monday, 2-6 hour shifts.)
